The Southwestern Pennsylvania Area Agency on Aging, Inc. established in 1985 as a private, non-profit corporation, is responsible for the development and management of the overall service delivery system for older adults in Fayette, Greene, and Washington Counties. Part of a national network of agencies established by the Federal Older Americans Act, the Area Agency on Aging is funded primarily through the Pennsylvania Department of Aging. The Area Agency on Aging is an affiliate of Southwestern Pennsylvania Human Services (SPHS), which is a non-profit management services agency.

Programs and Services
The Area Agency on Aging subcontracts with 34 local agencies to provide a comprehensive service delivery system for older adults. Wherever feasible, consumers are given the opportunity to choose among a variety of qualified providers. While many services are provided through the development of subcontracts, others are provided directly by the Area Agency on Aging.

The mission of Southwestern Pennsylvania Area Agency on Aging, Inc. is to promote the well-being of older adults through a planned, coordinated, and collaborative program of health and social services.
