The Southwestern Pennsylvania Area Agency on Aging, Inc., established in 1985 as a private, non-profit corporation, is responsible for developing and managing the overall service delivery system for older adults in Fayette, Greene, and Washington Counties. Part of a national network of agencies established by the Older Americans Act, the Area Agency on Aging is funded primarily through the Pennsylvania Department of Aging. The Area Agency on Aging is an affiliate of Southwestern Pennsylvania Human Services (SPHS), which is a non-profit management services agency.
Our Agency assists older adults to live independent, meaningful, and dignified lives within their homes and communities. Both directly and through our network of sub-contractors, our organization provides services and supports to about 14,000 older adults in Washington, Fayette and Greene counties each year.
Our vision is to ensure that older persons living in our three-county service area will age and live well with the services and supports needed to enhance their quality of life.
The mission of Southwestern Pennsylvania Area Agency on Aging, Inc. is to promote the well-being of older adults through a planned, coordinated, and collaborative health and social services program.
